I still love this page, months after I drew it. This is the old sanctum of the Society of Power Men. This was the big superhero society back in the ’50s and ’60s – in the ’80s it was considered largely out of date, un-politically correct, male dominated, and too North American centric and scrapped in favour for the Infinity Legion of Earth. Still, most people fondly remember the Society of Power Men – after all, nostalgia does strange things to the heart, and they don’t remember the scandals of the time. Meanwhile, the Infinity Legion of Earth is at an all time low for approval ratings and public support as they send the vast majority of their manpower to a Cosmic War in another dimension.
Adam Nova was a villain back during this time, but he redeemed himself. As Exemplar battled the Nazi invader Oberst over New York City, Nova appeared and stabbed Oberst in the back. He is now officially on the side of good, if eyed with suspicion by most in the heroic community.
The mask, the test tubes, the crystal encrusted shield, the sword, and the cosmic disc are all symbols and icons of that time. While they are mounted for display, they are each powerful artefacts in the right hands.
