Just as the art is painful in some places, in other panels I’m actually impressed with past me. The first panel is one of those times.

Alice isn’t heavy – she’s in pretty decent shape, actually – but I¬†definitely¬†draw her as thicker around the torso. In the early pages, this isn’t necessarily as obvious, but here it is for sure. She’s also wearing heavy sweaters and baggy jeans, obscuring her body shape some.

The red haze in the first panel is Alice’s rage. She struggles with anger. As a Christian, she knows that wrath is one of the seven deadly sins, and she tries to behave herself accordingly, but her anger is so strong and Alice, at this point, is so weak.
