Oathkeeper

The guidance counselor here, Mrs. Ellis, has clearly decided she is done caring about her students. I kind of can’t blame her! Twin Falls Secondary School is understaffed, and while Alice may be an eager beaver, not everyone gets to achieve their dreams. That jab in the last panel is really unwarranted, though.

Alice is a genuinely unintelligent protagonist. Which is surprisingly challenging – there’s not that many stupid – not ditzy, not silly, not comic relief, but straight out dumb – female protagonists. She honestly did work hard, though, and she honestly is confused.

I worked on Oathkeeper #1 over the course of months, and the result is that the art is kind of painful for me to look at in some places. This is one of those pages.
